I just had to show you my great new dishes I got for Christmas ...The mugs are from my grand daughter Natalie and the dishes are from my daughter Julie ...

Can't wait to have my Cheerios and coffee tomorrow morning. :^)

Christmas at my house 2009

I know Christmas is over ..and as usual I'm a little behind ...lol

But I thought I'd share a little bit of my decorations before I pack them up.

My living room is decorated in reds with lots of Santa's and Snowmen

With lots of silver and white in the dinning room.

Some soft toys for the babies to play with are always a good idea.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas full of lots of family, friends, food, love and laughter ...
And I wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

Christmas Cake

I found this cake recipe in a 1997 Country Living hard cover Christmas book that I bought for 50 cents at a yard sale a couple weeks ago ... This has to be the best cake I've ever made ... White chocolate with lemon filling ... the frosting is white chocolate and cream cheese and a little lemon juice and lemon rind .... yummy! ...."BUT" ... In the picture of the cake in the book the 'snow flakes' (made of white chocolate) there are silver dragee balls which really makes it beautiful .. But to my dismay they are ban from California and no company from out of state can even mail them to me ... sad face :^(

We can live a few miles from our local nuclear plant but we can't buy these little silver balls. ... Also I couldn't find my cake decorating tip to make the 'snow flakes' prettier ... I'm sure the one I make for Christmas will be better since I found the tip. ... This cake was my prototype.

New Red Bowls

Last night I went to 'Vons' to pick up a couple things and saw these great nesting bowls ... I tried to not buy them ..really I did ..but after filling my cart with the stuff I went for .. the cart went right back to where the bowls were ...
As hard as I tried not to buy them ..I just had to have them ..Aren't they great?!!
But I am proud of myself because this morning I took some things from my kitchen to my daughter's yard sale and sold enough to pay for them.

HALLOWEEN BATHROOM

This is my bathroom and I also used it for the front of my Halloween party invitations.This witch the newest addition to my Halloween decorations .... Don't you love herWe put up the paper towel holder when our kids lived at home ..one of the best things we ever did. :^)

A WEDDING LOVE STORY OF A DIFFERENT KIND

This story touched me so I wanted to share it with my friends.
This is about this wonderful new family ... Our grandson Daniel, his wife Heather and their little 4 year old son Jaxon, they also have a 2 month old baby boy named Jude... Daniel and Heather knew just how they wanted their beach wedding to look ..so a few weeks before the wedding Daniel drove to the beach and brought back a pickup truck load of big drift to make his "chuppah" ...or 'hoopa' as we called it, to stand under during the wedding .. he built it at home and bolted it together so he could disassemble it and take it to the beach and also to bring it back home after the wedding .. They had picked the perfect spot for it in their front yard in front of their bedroom window where a wisteria is growing .. it would not only be pretty but it would also shade the bedroom ... The wedding was beautiful and the 'hoopa' was perfect .. The morning after the wedding Daniel and his Dad left the little beach house that had been rented by the wedding families just a block from the beach to get the hoopa .. When they got there Daniel's face dropped because 'it was gone' .. as they turned to walk away they saw a group of homeless men sitting around a bonfire and parts of the hoopa were still sticking out of the fire .. Daniel was devastated ..his dad said they should go talk to the men but Daniel said they should just forget about it since it was gone and there was nothing they could do about now .. Daniel walked back to the beach house but his Dad walked over to the men and told them they had burned his sons hoopa ...three of the men hung their heads and wouldn't look at him .. but one of the men said they were very sorry but they thought it was just left and that no one would want it ... at that time Daniel and his little son Jaxon walked up and they heard Daniel's dad telling him that the two baskets the hoopa was standing in belonged to his wife so he would like to have them back ..one of the men looked up and said 'no' we're going to keep them .. but the man who had been talking told him it didn't belong to them and they needed to give it back .. so they took the baskets and walked away .. as they were walking Jaxon asked his Dad ..."what happened Dad" ...his dad answered .."they burned the hoopa" ... Jaxon asked .."why" ..his Dad replied .."because that's where they live and they were cold" .. Jaxon asked .."But why don't they have a house?" .. and his Father said ..."Because they are homeless"... They walked back to the beach house and Daniel packed up a box of food left from the wedding and he and his little son took it back to the men who had burned his hoopa.
So Daniel and Heather will not have their wedding hoopa in their yard but Jaxon will have learned a lesson about love for your fellow man that hopefully he will never forget.
I just wanted to share.

"The Golden Girls"

Cathy and Judi ... My two best friends ...I'm in the middle.

We were out on a play date ... a picnic lunch made by Cathy ...yummy ... a play and a little shopping ...A special day .. We've been 'best friends' for pretty close to 40 years. ...Our kids are older then we were when we met and some of our grandkids are almost as old as we were ... Now our children are friends and our grandkids are friends ...I'm blessed.

I'd love to see pictures of you and your best friends.

"TRANSITION TABLE"

This table is nothing to write home about ...Just an "in between table scape" until the FALL stuff comes out... my fav!

I also like to photograph my things so I don't forget them after I pack them away.

I love the butter dish I found at a yard sale a few weeks ago ... It actually was my 'inspiration'.

I wonder why...

We always put sea shells in the bathroom???
