Rainy Play Day

I bought this stack of huge cupcake looking papers a long time ago ... Not knowing what to do with them..????

Then I won Linda's give-a-way at
Robin's Egg Blues
It was a little bag of treasures.

So thanks to Linda and another blog where I got the idea to make flowers out of coffee filters, I made this Valentine ball to hang over my dinning room table using the cupcake papers instead of coffee filters and some of the things I got from Linda.
Please let me know if anyone knows the blog that showed how to make the coffee filter flowers ... I've looked and looked but I can't find it.

I've always hated this corner of my kitchen ...

and I'm sure you can see way.

We believe it was a space for a small ice box back in the day
I have been looking for something that would fit in this small space for years ..actually I've always wanted a Hoosier cabinet but there was no way ...
Then last week "I found it"!!!
Here it is! ... It was in a little shop in town ... We measured and re-measured ..and then measured some more ..and "yes"! ... It was made to order... As you can see it was made for that spot .... I am so happy ... and when I'm happy ... everybody is happy. :^)

The sun is shinning and I got a sweet little package in my mail box ... It's a special day on my corner .... Look at all the 'toys' I get to play with ... I'm trying to think of something to make using all my beautiful things ... hmmmm? ... I'm sure some of you gals could just whip something up without batting an eye.... It may take me a few days to come up with something, but I promise to post a picture of it as soon as I do.

He was the top runner in high school

"SILVER "...My new love.

Here are a few pictures of my dinning room ...I "finally" got all my Christmas stuff put away ...well, it made it up the stairs on it's way to the attic any way.

After seeing so much beautiful silver on some of your blogs it started catching my eye and now I'm in love with it ...just what I needed ..'another thing to collect' ...Oh well ...The hunt is on!

I love the white and silver together ... I just found the silver bowl in the middle of the shelf at the Goodwill ...It was black when I bought it but I couldn't wait to get home and clean it up.

I love this beautiful coffee pot I found at the Goodwill.

I actually started buying silver trays to paint with chalkboard paint, but I just can't bring myself to paint one yet.
Don't you just love my $1.00 yard sale teapot lamp?

Bubble Bath

Does anyone remember the bubble bath from the 50"s?
It came in a long box with little koolaid looking packets, only smaller .. maybe 6 or 10 of them ...I don't remember how many ...each packet had a picture of a different flower on it and the bubble bath was the sent of the flower.
My sister and I would buy them at our local 5 & dime ... Newberry's in Los Angeles ...I think the bubble bath was in the same area as the Blue Waltz and Evening in Paris Perfumes were ... also we would buy "Natural" lipstick and nail polish there ... the nail polish had a little 'finger nail' on the cap. :^)
I have looked on ebay for the bubble bath, but no luck ...I would love to find a box for my sister.

Home made laundry soap

I want to thank Maryjane over at The Beehive Cottage

for posting her recipe for home made laundry soap..

I had such a fun 'play date' with my daughter Tina shopping for all the ingredients since we had never heard of a couple of them ...Then there was the hunt for the jars at all the thrift stores ...This soap is really fun to make and now I have a special little gift for my friends....I love this stuff and will never buy detergent again ... You've really got to try it.

And be sure to look around Maryjane's blog when you go over to get the recipe ...she is so talented and so inspiring.

Tina also printed up the labels for me ..I don't think you can read them but they say "Betty's Laundry Soap"
